Description by seller:
A track car for the Alfa enthusiast or aspirant Alfa Historic racer. It has received a full body respray (there is some overspray on the suspension) and new livery has been done. The front and rear screens are glass (front windscreen has crack at bottom right) and the side windows at the rear are poly and in good condition. The front window on the right-hand side has been replaced with safety net, while the left front window is not fitted but a frame has been installed that could support poly.
Some headlight/grille trim is missing and the external door handles have been removed. Driver side race seat has been fitted and is in good condition. The fibreglass dash has some cracks and the headlining has been stripped out, as have the door cards but they have been replaced with aluminium to meet safety requirements.
Additional gauges and fuse box have been fitted in the cabin, as well as an ATS safety harness which is good for track days but would need to be replaced (due to age) in order to compete in MSA events. There are limited interior switches with only the track-important ones remaining: ignition, starter, cooling fan, rear indicators. Dash vents are present but there is no fan for weight-saving reasons - fresh air could be ducted in here for demisting the windscreen. Carpets have been removed and the floor painted. There is no radio but there are twin Weber carburettors and a raspy side exiting exhaust for your listening pleasure.
Engine was refreshed prior to going on sale - new pistons and camshaft. Well set up set of twin Weber 40DCOE sidedrafts with ram tubes and new filter socks, custom-made aluminium radiator with electric fan and custom-fabricated aluminium catch tanks, silicon hoses, electronic ignition, stainless steel (after manifold) exhaust exiting at left side, designed and fabricated sump guard, new boot-mounted fuel cell/petrol tank with quality fittings and facet electric pump.
The car rides well and handles the track as one expects an Alfa to. There are disc brakes all round (BMW items up front). Bridgestone semi-slicks are 4 years old but have had very limited use since Covid.
Available to view by appointment in Johannesburg.
