This BMW G450X is a highly collectable example of BMW's short-lived foray into off-road bikes (having purchased Husqvarna shortly thereafter they stopped selling the BMW off-roader). The G450X was presented on 6 November 2007 at the EICMA 2007 trade fair in Milan. The water-cooled, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine with four valves, two overhead camshafts and dry sump lubrication was designed by BMW Motorrad in Germany and manufactured by Kymco in Taiwan. The digital engine management with overrun fuel cut-off controls an electronic intake manifold injection. A regulated three-way catalytic converter cleans the exhaust gas. The mechanically operated multi-disc clutch sits directly on the crankshaft and runs in an oil bath. The claw-shift five-speed gearbox is integrated in the motor housing.
Description by seller:
This bike has been fully restored by an official BMW Motorrad franchised workshop, using original parts imported from Germany (to the tune of R32 700). These parts include all the wear parts, like grips, seat, tyres as well as the parts required to make the bike street legal. It has been road-worthied and registered in my name. The decal set produced for this restoration draws inspiration from the successful G450X racing teams of that era.
Note: the one part that I did not renew is the slip-on exhaust - it has some scratches, so I wanted to replace it, but not being sure if the purchaser wants to 'stay original' or opt for the Akrapovic, I left the used part on as is. This can still be done by the workshop.
