1965 Sunbeam Alpine Series IV

The Sunbeam Alpine is a two-seater sports drophead coupé that was produced by the Rootes Group from 1953 to 1955, and then 1959 to 1968. The second generation of Sunbeam Alpine was introduced in 1959. Also known as the "Series" Alpine, the second generation was based on the Hillman Minx and saw updated styling and mechanicals. The second generation is known as the 'Series' Alpine due to the naming of the car's evolutions. Five 'Series' were made: Series I (1959-1960), Series II (1960-1963), Series III (1963-1964), Series IV (1964-1965), and Series V (1965-1968). Each of these series featured improvements and updates, with the most notable being the engine. Series I cars featured a 1.5L inline four, Series II, III, IV featured a 1.6L inline four, and the Series V was fitted with a 1.7L inline four.

Series IV (1964–65):

There was no longer a lower-output engine option; the convertible and hardtop versions shared the same 82bhp engine with single Solex carburettor. A new rear styling was introduced with the fins largely removed. A total of 12 406 were made.

This Example

Description by seller:

I purchased the car in 2003 and roadworthy was done pursuant to me taking delivery.

The hard top is fitted at present but is removeable; the soft top mechanism is present but the covering is missing.

The upholstery is red leather (Alfa Romeo Rosso from Mario Levi). The old ubiquitous Solex carburettor has been replaced with a Weber.

There is a small scrape next to the rear right-hand taillight. The reverse light lenses are missing. The odometer does not work (except for the trip meter).

Papers in order and status reflects 'Gebruik/Used'.

Available to view by appointment in Pietermaritzburg.

do you have a picture of left side?

Hi, unfortunately not at the moment. Have requested some more. According to seller it is similar in condition and appearance to the right hand side - but doesn't have a scrape next to the tail light like the right. - Stuart CCA 4 months, 1 week ago
