The production of the Mercedes Benz R107 SL (Sport Light) “R” in R107 standing for Roadster, began in April 1971 and continued for 18 years becoming a status symbol of the time. The R 107 was available with a soft-top and an optional hard top along with optional foldable rear seats to provide flexibility.
This Mercedes-Benz 450SL is a running driving project car which requires attention to the floor under the rear seats, seat covers and soft top roof in particular. It was first registered in 1978 in Kimberley (CC reg) with the two subsequent license numbers indicating that this car spent most of its life in the Free State prior to Cape Town and the RC1 reflects "Used" status.
